You write in your language; whoever reads it sees theirs, translated as the message arrives. Direct messages are encrypted before they are stored; what you write to a group or inside a community is kept readable, so that a report about it can be acted on. Communities, a public feed, blogs, voice calls and KittenAI come with it, free.
Two things end most conversations before they start: no shared language, and no idea where the words end up afterwards. Clovera handles the first as the message arrives and the second before anything is written to disk. KittenAI catches you up on what happened overnight, which is less impressive than it sounds and more useful.
It is also three apps at once: the private one your friends are in, the community one with channels and roles, and the public one you post to. One account, one icon.

Your profile isn't a template.
Most apps give you a photo, a name and a box for your bio. Here you get the whole page: what you wear, where each block sits and what goes in it. Arranging your own corner is a small thing. Civilization is mostly small things.

What is Clovera Chat?
Clovera Chat is a messaging app. Whatever language you write in, the person reading sees their own, translated as the message arrives. Direct messages are encrypted before they are stored; group and community messages are kept readable, so that a report about them can be acted on. There are three ways to talk: private direct messages and group chats; communities with text, announcement, forum, mission and voice channels; and a public topic feed anyone can browse without an account. Blogs, voice calls, a profile you arrange block by block, and KittenAI for summaries, translation and moderation come with them.

What happens to what you write
Direct messages are encrypted before they are stored, and nobody outside the conversation is shown them. What is written to a group or inside a community is stored readable instead, so that a report about it can be acted on. Where a KittenAI feature processes a message, the privacy policy names what is sent and where. The list is short on purpose: a claim you cannot check is worth less than a smaller one you can.
- Direct messages and their attachments are encrypted with ChaCha20-Poly1305 before they are stored
- Group and community messages are stored readable rather than encrypted, so that a report about one can be acted on
- Passwords are stored as scrypt hashes, never as text that could be read back
- No ads anywhere, and your data is not sold on to advertisers or anyone else
